EV Charger Installation in Calgary

Charge at home overnight with a properly installed Level 2 charger. We check your panel’s capacity, run a dedicated circuit, pull the permit and arrange the inspection.

Why Level 2?

A standard household outlet (Level 1) adds only a few kilometres of range per hour. A Level 2 charger runs on a 240-volt dedicated circuit and can typically refill a daily commute overnight, which is why most EV owners in Calgary install one in the garage or on the driveway.

What the installation includes

  • A look at your existing panel and a load calculation, so the charger won’t overload your service.
  • A dedicated 240 V circuit sized for the charger, usually a 40 to 60 amp breaker depending on the model.
  • Mounting and wiring the charger in the garage or outside, with weather-rated equipment where needed.
  • The electrical permit and the follow-up inspection.
  • Set-up help with the charger’s app and scheduling for off-peak charging.

If your panel is close to full

Many homes can add a charger without a full service upgrade. Options include an energy management system that pauses the charger when the house is using a lot of power, or a load-sharing setup when two chargers are installed. If an upgrade is the better answer, we explain why and quote both options.

Brands we install

Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint and other certified Level 2 chargers. If you haven’t bought one yet, we can help you choose based on your vehicle, cable length and Wi-Fi coverage.

Common questions

Do I need a permit to install an EV charger in Calgary?

Yes. A new 240 V circuit for a charger needs an electrical permit and an inspection. We pull the permit and book the inspection as part of the job.

Will I need a panel upgrade?

Not always. We do a load calculation first. Many homes have room for a charger as-is, and an energy management system can often avoid an upgrade when they don’t.

Can the charger go outside?

Yes, as long as the charger is rated for outdoor use. We use weather-rated boxes and fittings and plan the cable route for Calgary winters.

How long does installation take?

Most straightforward garage installs are done in a day. Longer cable runs or panel work can take longer; we confirm the timeline in the quote.
